Questions
Frequently asked questions about car leasing
Annual Mileage:
When you enter into a lease agreement the contract is based on the estimated annual mileage that you expect to travel. If at the end of the contract period you have exceeded your allocated mileage you will incur an excess mileage charge usually ranging from £25.00 per '000 miles to £100.00 per '000 miles depending on the contract type and model car. You do have the right to amend the contract terms as long as there is a minimum period of 6 months to the end of the contract. Contact Car Leasing Ltd for further information.
Vehicle Insurance:
It is the responsibility of the hirer/lessee to insure the vehicle. Car Leasing Limited can arrange insurance cover for you at an additional cost.
VAT and Reclaiming VAT (Business leasing only)
Normally you can reclaim 50% of the finance element of the rental and 100% VAT on the maintenance element. Contact Car Leasing Limited for further information. For example: Finance rental £300 plus VAT (£52.00). Amount of VAT to be reclaimed = (£52.50 / 2 = £26.25.). Maintenance rental £25.00 plus VAT = £4.37. (Amount to be reclaimed 100% = £4.37) If the vehicle is used 100% for business use, you can reclaim 100% of the VAT. This is unusual and it is the responsibility of the hirer/lessee to provide evidence to this effect to Customs and Excise in the event of an audit. Personal leasing schemes cannot reclaim VAT. With regard to Commercial vehicles you are able to reclaim 100% of the rental under current legislation.
Private leasing quotes and business leasing quotes
These are differentiated to allow for the VAT that cannot be recovered for private individuals
Why can Car Leasing Limited offer such low prices?
Car Leasing Limited will acquire thousands of cars and vans each year direct from various manufacturers. This massive purchasing power brings big discounts that are passed directly to you.
Why are there two prices for the same vehicle?
There are two prices shown. One for the business user showing the cost net of VAT. The other is for the personal / private lease showing a rental inclusive of VAT.
Maintenance and leasing your car
You must ensure the car is adequately serviced, ideally at a main franchised dealer. Prices do not include maintenance cover; however we offer our own exclusive maintenance packages. Our maintenance packages include full servicing in line with the manufacturer's recommendations, replacement tyres as necessary, brakes, pads and all other serviceable items throughout the lease contract.
Do I have a personal or business lease?
If you are a business owner or an employer of a company who provides car leasing to employees you may be entitled to have a business user car leasing scheme. Alternatively, if the company or organisation you work does not provide company cars on a car leasing schemes you would need to opt for a personal car leasing scheme.
What's the difference between Contract Purchase and Contract Hire?
The primary difference between contract hire and contract purchase is essentially what happens to the car at the end of the lease. Contract purchase offers a fixed/guaranteed amount, which you can pay to ultimately own the car or alternately return the car back to the finance company. On contract hire you have no alternative but to return the car back to the finance company.
